Begonia goegoensis

$26

This rhizomatous Begonia hails from Sumatra and is easy to grow.  New leaves are red, and keep a subtle red edging when mature.  The leaves are very soft, and sort of shimmery.  The internodes are short, so it’s appearance remains compact.  I’ve been growing it in 100% clay but I think it would do well in many other substrates. Begonias.org suggests an addition of bone meal, with a light porous primary substrate.   It does well in temperatures in the 70’s and will sometimes lose leaves if kept too cold.

The last photo is representative of the plants available. They are well rooted and shipped meticulously in their pots.
