Begonia xanthina (dark shadows x sib)

Winning Bid: $35

This variable species has bumpy, purple silver, and green leaves.  Leaves can reach about 6″ across.   The flowers are a beautiful bright yellow.  It’s somewhat unique in its color because usually Begonia bearing yellow blooms are African, but this one occurs in the Himilayas and Yunnan, China.  It is a species that reportedly is hardy in zone 9, although I have not tested this.  The leaves are rather thick, and it is a sturdy species, but, still somewhat remarkable to think of it growing outdoors in subfreezing temperatures.

The plant available is the exact one pictured.  It will be shipped potted.
