Sonerila sp. Tepuai

This is a great plant to try if you want to challenge your growing skills! while not prone to suddenly melting like alot of Bornean Begonias, it’s a real pro at the slow die off, so slow you hardly notice, until it’s too late. Part of the issue alot of folks, myself included, were having, is that freshly imported plants are often wild collected and not acclimated prior to shipping, and do not do well with a sudden change in growing conditions. Like all the plants I sell, the available plants are propagated here, and are acclimated to indoor growing, so you will have a leg up there, at least. It likes low-medium light, ideally under 100FC, and seems tolerant of temps ranging from 60-80. This one has taken me about five years to acclimate, grow out, and only as of 23′ have I had enough material to produce about 20 plants thus far. While there are others growing this species in the US, and at least one person propagating it in Europe, I’m not sure there’s anyone propagating it in the US. Even in Borneo where it is native to, most of the plants sold are WC.
Available plants are well rooted in 2″ pots and will be shipped potted. The last image is representative of the plants available.
